My New Powermaximus Driver

Written by: OIPacs

I bought myself a treat yesterday. We’ll call it a late Father’s Day gift or an early Christmas present. Anyway, I finally picked up a Powermaximus. I’ve had my eye on them for awhile. For those of you who don’t know, they are a weighted club, made by Medicus.

With hard work I have been able to really straighten out my drive, but I am just not getting the distance I want. The Powermaximus Driver is supposed to help with swing speed among other things, so I am hoping it will help me hit farther off the tee. It is a hittable swing trainer so I plan on taking out the to driving range. I have heard good things and some of the pros swear by it so we will see how it goes. I suppose a few reps on the bench press would do me some good as well. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Written by: Randy S.
Brett Ochsenreiter fired a 69 to narrowly miss low medalist honors and three other Vikings shot 80 or below to help Fort Walton Beach edge Catholic to claim this year’s Miracle Strip Invitational championship on the Fort Walton Beach Pines course on Thursday.

“This is a good tournament and a great field, to win at 292 really sends a message that this is a regional championship team if they can keep it together and build on this,” Fort Walton Beach coach John Lavin said. Fort Walton Beach’s team score of 292 was seven shots better than second place. “With the field that (Choctaw coach Bill) Martin puts together, this is one of the class tournaments of the year and it’s a big honor to win it,” Lavin said.

Niceville’s Avery Helms took home low medalist honors with a 68.

Despite entering Thursday’s invitational having struggled on past events at the Pines, Ochsenreiter helped pace Fort Walton Beach thanks in large part to his improved short game.

Medicus Development Player Advances Euro PGA Qualifying

Written by: Randy S.

With a goal of qualifying for the PGA European Tour, Medicus Golf Development Player Peter Appleyard has successfully completed the first step in achieving this goal.  Peter qualified for the 2nd stage of tour qualifying school by grabbing one of the coveted spots at Chart Hills Golf Club by shooting 8 under par.
Peter Appleyard

Peter began working with Medicus Golf Instructor Quintin van der Berg earlier this year.  He has credited Quintin, trained by Executive Director of Instruction for Medicus Golf, Chuck Evans, with not only helping him to qualify for the 2nd stage but also in qualifying for this years British Open.  Peter, who turned pro in 2003, beat a field of over 3,500 professional and amateur golfers to gain one of the coveted places.  After holding the joint lead at one stage of the British Open, with Australian superstar Adam Scott, he missed the halfway cut by only one shot.

Peter, who plays out of the Wildernesse Golf Club in England, has been extremely impressed with Quintin and Chuck.  “I found Quintin and Chuck to be very, very good coaches.  They are really up to date with the latest technological innovations and can provide expert analysis of the technical information.  I am delighted with the progress I have made with the instruction and it undoubtedly has helped me to raise my game.”

Can You Really Learn To Play Golf Online?

Written by: Golf Balls Personalized

If you cannot get decent golf lessons for beginners locally, then save up for a golf vacation package. Get a package which has intense lessons – lessons in the morning, then a few rounds of real golf in the afternoon. Most beginners find that they learn best with a live instructor. It is easier for you to get feedback on any obvious and serious mistakes. In the more exclusive golf vacation packages, there may only be a few students, so you will get nearly personalized instruction. Do not underestimate the value of this near one-on-one learning experience. Of course, if you only want to brush up your game, a budget golf vacation package taken off peak periods might also do the trick.

Remember to invest in properly fitted golf clubs. These will repay your investment many times over. A set of clubs which are wrong for you – wrong flex, too long or too short, wrong-sized grips, etc. – can cause you to stumble along with slices and hooks sending your score into the 100s. If you cannot afford the full set, then make do with fewer clubs, as long as those clubs are properly fitted. Get training grips for your golf clubs as well – these will help you learn how to grip the golf club correctly. It is better to start your training with some old style blade irons. They have small sweet spots and give you quick and immediate feedback when you execute your golf swing techniques incorrectly. They are fairly cheap to get second-hand, too. Once you achieve some basic competence in your golf swing mechanics, you may like to invest in Medicus training clubs. If you follow the instructions properly, they will further help you to perfect your golf swing.

Golf Advertisers at PGA Championship: TheBigPutt and Medicus the only two that got it right

Written by: Search Fuel

A quick glance to the right revealed ads from ticket broker StubHub, and the all-you-need-to-know golf buzz site, Golf Observer. “People are starting to get smart with their search strategies,” I thought. At that point, I went into a search frenzy on Google.

“Golf” yielded paid ads, but nothing specific to the PGA or BMW Championship. “PGA Golf” yielded a few sites you’ve likely never heard of, but again, nothing tied to the Championship. “Phil Mickelson,” “PGA Tour” – nothing. Not even an ad. Even “Bellerive Country Club,” site of the Championship. Nothing. Discouraged and still on Google, I searched for the top golfers on the leaderboard as they entered Sunday’s final round, a successful search strategy I’ve seen our search strategists employ for a network around a major tennis tournament. Camillo Villegas, Jim Furyk, Anthony Kim. Looks like TheBigPutt and Medicus (DriveTheMax.com) were the only two companies that got it right and leveraged their affiliation with Furyk and Villegas.

3 Reasons To Get Golf Training Clubs

Written by: Staffan Moritz

You want to become a better golfer—you have the drive, motivation and stamina. You think you have what it takes to be a golf pro. Except for one thing… your swing needs improvement. Don’t worry, many golfers face the same problems but there is a solution. Now is the perfect time to get some golf training clubs to make those improvements.

Golf training clubs are said to be the number one training aids in the world. They’re literally fool-proof since the only way to know if you are swinging correctly is to make sure the hinge doesn’t bend. Golf training clubs will improve everything from your posture, to your stance, and your swing—all in one shot. But, there real key is to practice, practise and practise. So, all you need to do is get some golf training clubs and swing away.

3 reasons to get some golf training clubs:

1. You can literally mimic your physical movement with weighted resistance, thus improving your strength as well as your swing. Also, golf training clubs train the golfer to drive at greater distances than ever before. This is because you are training those muscles necessary to play golf, using many repetitions with the same or even greater range of motion.

2. Golf training clubs also promote a greater range of motion in the backswing and follow through. If you are trying to improve golf flexibility and power, golf training clubs are the way to do it. They provide greater impact on the ball, thus more driving force. Finally, you will gain greater head speed by using golf training clubs.

3. Weighted golf training clubs are an excellent way to warm up before a game. Swinging one 20 – 30 times will ensure greater flexibility in your muscles and allow your swing to be at its ultimate capacity. The greater the swing; the more power behind it.

As you can see, there are many great benefits to using golf training clubs. One popular golf training club is the Medicus. The system of this golf training club uses a hinge that when the swing is improper, the hinge bends or breaks. The only way to know that you are swinging correctly is if the hinge doesn’t bend or break.

Pros actually use golf training clubs themselves to keep flexibility at its optimal level. It’s no wonder—golf training clubs can provide all that you need to make the improvements you want in your golf game.

Huge SS Increase!

Written by: Jones137 @ GolfWRX

For about the past two to three years I’ve lost a lot of distance on all my clubs….driver from around 270 to 230 and PW from 140 to 115. I’ve been doing everything I can to figure the problem out. I’ve been on a few simulators and my SS with a driver has been around 88-92 mph….I’m 6′3″ 205 lbs 29 years old and pretty flexible so that’s extremely slow. I treid swinging harder but I couldn’t get my SS about 92.

I purchased a Powermeter from Medicus to try and measure my SS and make changes to my swing to see if I could increase my SS. First off, the Powermeter is extremely accurate…..measuring my SS with a driver at 88-90 mph, exactly what all the high end swing speed devices read. I’ve been screwing around for a couple months with this and haven’t noticed any SS increase until yesterday when I had a revelation. I taped myself and noticed I was very flat and basically was whipping the club inside and around my body and not working the club vertically up at all. So I started doing the Ryan Moore type swing or Nick Faldo drill and really trying to feel the club working vertical once the toe was pointing at the sky.
This felt very good but different than what my body has gotten use to. Clamped on the Powermeter and got a huge surprise, my SS had gone from 90 to consistently around 115 with a few swings in the 122-124 range!! It’s been so frustrating getting outdriven by my 50 year old dad and 57 year old father in law even though I score better than they do my lack of distance has been putting tremendous pressure on my short game.
